National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI) established in 2018 in Vadodara, Gujarat, is India’s first university offering multi-disciplinary education, research and training focused exclusively on the transportation sector. NRTI invites applications from committed academics and practitionerswith quality teaching experience, publications and research expertise for faculty positions at the level of Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the following areas:
Ph.D. with First class or equivalent (in terms of Grades etc.) at the preceding degree and a consistent academic record throughout.
EXPERIENCE (Required on the date of application):
|Professor**||An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/ allied/relevant discipline and having a minimum of 10 years teaching/research/professional experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor/ Professor and/ or research experience at equivalent level at the university/ national level institutions, organization or industry as onthe date of application. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization in terms of guidance of Ph.D. students, strong record of publications (minimum of 10 research publications) in peer reviewed or UGC listed reputed journals and conferences, patents, laboratory/course development and/or other recognized relevant professional activities.|
|Associate Professor**||A good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/ allied/ relevant disciplines and a minimum of 8 years of teaching/research/professional experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor in a university, college or accredited research institution/ industry as on the date of application. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization in terms of guidance of M.Tech./ MBA or Ph.D. students, strong record of publications (minimum of 7 publications) in the peer reviewed or UGC listed reputed journals and conferences, patents, laboratory/course development and/or other recognized relevant professional activities.|
|Assistant Professor**||A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/ allied/ relevant subject from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Additionally, the candidate must have cleared the national eligibility test conducted by the UGC or the CSIR or a similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET or who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC regulations/ Ph. D, from a foreign university or institution with a ranking among top 500 in the old university ranking.
A minimum of three years teaching/research/professional experience,excluding the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D. Candidate should have demonstrated research capabilities in terms of publications in reputed journals and conferences. Eligible candidates with less than the requisite experience may be taken asAssistant Professor (Contractual basis) in the pay band of Rs.15600 – 39100PB3 with appropriate higher starting pay based on post-doctoral experience
Assistant Professor on contractual basis*
Candidates not eligible for Assistant Professor may be appointed as Assistant Professor (Contractual Basis). At the entry level they may be placed in Pay band – 3 of Rs.15600 – – 39100 with AGP of Rs.6000/and shall move after 1 year to AGP of Rs.7000/and after 3 years to AGP of Rs.8000/with a minimum basic pay of Rs.30000/(Gross Pay excluding
HRA Rs.92,700/p.m.).On completion of 3 years’ service as Assistant Professor with AGP of Rs.8000/, shall move to Pay Band – 4 (Rs.37400 – 67000) with an AGP of Rs.9000/-(Gross Pay excluding HRA Rs.1,11,600/p.m.). Aforementioned scales are as per 6th CPC.
** In view of the specialized, sector-specific courses, programs and research to be conducted by the University, NRTI may recruit faculty who possess extensive experience in the sector, in lieu of an academic postgraduate or doctoral degree.

Level 14 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix
For Direct recruits, entry pay to be fixed at Rs.1,44,200/-p.m. (Gross Pay including DA but excluding Transport Allowance & HRA will be Rs.1,57,178/- approx.)

For Direct recruits, entry pay to be fixed at Rs.79,800/- p.m. (Gross Pay including DA but excluding Transport Allowance & HRA will be Rs.86,982/- approx.)
|ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (CONTRACTUAL BASIS)
Forfreshrecruits,minimumpaytobefixed at Rs.79,800/- in Level 12 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Gross Pay including DA but excluding Transport Allowance & HRA will be Rs.86,982/- approx.)
*The University will offer UGC recommended scales. The final salary structures are under finalisation.
RESERVATION: Reservation policy will be implemented in accordance with Government
of Indian policy on reservation in vogue.
The application must be complete with full details of educational qualifications including
year of obtaining Ph.D., including date of defense, list of publications (with reprints of the
best papers), teaching/ research/industrial experience, date of birth along with the

3. Foreign Nationals who are “Persons of Indian Origin” (PIO) or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), in whose case, if selected, permission will be sought from Govt. of India before he/she can join the Institute.
4. Other Foreign Nationals, in whose case, if selected, appointment will be on a
contract basis for up to 5 years subject to permission from the Govt. of India before he/she can join the Institute.
5. Political and security clearance from Ministries of External Affairs and Home Affairs is necessary in every case for individuals with foreign passports.
6. Mere fulfillment of the qualifications and experience requirement laid down does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview.
7. The university encourages interaction of the faculty with industry, other research and professional institutions.
8. The university may consider candidates whose areas of specialization lie outside those stated herein, provided these persons have an outstanding academic record.
