Our multidisciplinary approach towards research on transport systems brings together academicians, scientists, and engineers from various backgrounds, and, leverages our academic and industry collaborations.
The centers for research and innovation in technology will serve as hubs of innovation, connecting and collaborating with leaders and researchers from industry, government, and academia, both in India and internationally, to advance and share rail and transportation related knowledge.
Upcoming multidisciplinary research themes include public transport operations and management, transport economics and policy, rail technology and infrastructure development, and, sustainability and behavior change. NRTI research centers will study emerging areas such as rolling stock, signaling, and hyper-speed transportation, and provide better access to knowledge, technology, and skills, to spearhead projects, to improve competitiveness and productivity using cutting-edge technologies.
Our areas of focus at present are to establish support infrastructure and processes, create a culture of peer evaluation and external evaluation of research departments, and promote the integration of teaching and research for faculty and also for undergraduate students.
Focused on developing program components that can be embedded in academic degrees, and in training and development initiatives of the institution.
Focused on developing employable technology and intelligence for new age transportation infrastructure systems.
Focused on research that enables new age technology that may be adopted by Indian Railways, such as the bullet train project.
